Supervisory Services for Those Seeking LMFT Licensure

Obtaining your license in marriage and family therapy is an important milestone in your career. I am an AAMFT-approved supervisor and board-certified by Minnesota’s Board of Marriage and Family Therapy to conduct the supervision you need to obtain your license.

I regularly work with individuals, pairs or small groups of new therapists who need to complete their independent supervisory hours. Our sessions will include:

  • Case consultation and guidance working through challenging issues/cases

  • Self of the therapist work

  • Exploration of therapeutic techniques, approaches, and therapy theories/models

  • Personal reflection on how your own family of origin and personality enhances or inhibits therapy sessions

  • Discussion of professional development opportunities and career planning

  • Experiential supervision and use of art in supervision

  • Co-therapy experience

I offer a collaborative supervisory experience focused on your interests and particular needs. It is important to me that you get what you need out of our work together. We will discuss what you are looking for and what styles of supervision work well for you.  I tailor my guidance to those particular areas you wish to focus on or develop further, including self of thetherapist work, experiential supervision, career development, case consultation and more.

Flexible Scheduling As Needed

Most of our sessions will be conducted face-to-face, but I can also consult by phone when necessary in the case of clinical emergencies. At the outset of our partnership, we’ll discuss a schedule that accommodates both of our professional and personal lives.

That said, as a working parent, I know how busy life can get. As of August 1, 2016, the Minnesota legislature allows graduates to log up to 50 hours of their supervisory hours via technology. I’m happy to conduct a few of our sessions via Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangouts or some other secure electronic means.

Teaching Is Part of My Practice

I started providing supervision in my doctoral program to local master's students as part of my supervisory credentialing process. Since then, I worked in multiple capacities as a supervisor for master's students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs working toward their licensure in marriage and family therapy in Minnesota.

I gained supervisory experience overseeing intern therapists with the Emily Program and at the University of Minnesota’s Star Clinic. I taught practicums at Saint Mary’s University and the University of Minnesota. I also taught courses to licensed therapists seeking to become approved supervisors themselves. I deeply enjoy the supervision relationship and seeing my supervisees reach their own milestones in their personal and professional growth.

In short, my passion for mentoring others isn’t limited to my own practice. I am excited and honored to support you in developing your skills and unique approach toward helping others.

Our Journey Begins with a Call
